If you’re heading to The BPM Festival this year keep your eyes peeled for a new movement in the underground scene. A symbol. A flame.
Last year, co-founders of the lifestyle and fashion brand Symbol:Flame launched their clothing line at BPM. This year they plan to expand with fresh new pieces being revealed in the same week. But don’t expect a big hooplah over it. Naw. It’s in the subtle details. Details like the representative flame hanging from the necks of artists and industry folks. Details like sunglasses pockets in t-shirts for those sunrise beach sets. Details like drop-crotch pants and long t-shirts. That’s Symbol:Flame.
The founders of this brand are not out to make a quick buck. Instead, their focus is on creative exploration in the underground community. For instance, they could sell their signature necklaces (pictured below) online, or they could (and they did) take a more stealth approach. Necklaces are not bought by consumers, they are specifically handed out by the guys behind the brand. How do you get one? Just do you. This is not a means for hand-picking the cool kids and creating a private club. No. This is a gift of appreciation for being a contribution.
You could be an artist, an event organizer, a bartender, a dancer, or simply a party-goer. All are key players in the scene, and all make a contribution that Symbol:Flame wants to recognize. Go out, mix and mingle, enjoy the music and have a good time. Be open. Share who you are, and you might just find a necklace in your hands.
If you don’t get a necklace, don’t worry. Symbol:Flame has a variety of products available for purchase online, and as mentioned before, are releasing more as the year progresses. Recently launched is a new collection of tees done on Supima Cotton/Micro Modal fabric – ideal for dancing indoors or outside.
Life Tee – $52
Red Zone Tee – $52
Fly High Tee – $62
You will also see a new necklace soon. A special edition flame created in collaboration with LA-based Maor Cohen of MCohen Designs. This unique flame will be created in silver and black but limited quantities of each will be available for purchase.
Other notable items include the Dice Snapback, in honour of Loco Dice who’s been spotted representing Symbol Flame, and the Knob shirt in honour of Jamie Jones.
Offering worldwide shipping to their growing audience, Symbol:Flame is not just a clothing line – it’s a movement. As you’re out at events over the course of the year, keep an eye out for the flame, you’ll be seeing more of it, I’m sure.
