Last month we wrote about the new audio downloading service, Technics Tracks, now available in Canada. This week we tried out the hi-res FLAC files on the Panasonic PMX100, and were pretty much blown away.

I haven’t had a home entertainment system in years and had no idea such crisp, clear sound was available right at my fingertips. Equipped with both physical (USB, CD) and wireless (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) connectivity, the PMX100 system is a sleek and versatile audio technology that’s affordable ($599) and easy to use.

With an output of 120W, the Panasonic PMX100 speakers incorporate a Super Sonic Tweeter that is capable of reproducing sound with a frequency of 100 kHz. The speakers feature a lightweight and rigid 14cm Bamboo Plant Opal woofer and are backed by the third generation LincsD-Amp system and a digital variable gain amplifier (VGDA) primarily designed to improve sound quality at low volume.

Incorporating both WiFi and Bluetooth, music playback on the PMX 100 can be performed on a phone or tablet and can play music directly from these devices. The system also features a USB input (USB DAC), CD player, DLNA input and FM Radio and is part of the ALL Series wireless solution which connects to multiple devices in your home system.

What I enjoy the most is being able to play all my favourite music, whether it be downloaded music, podcasts or radio shows by simply connecting the device to Bluetooth. The listening experience of all my favourite podcasts just went to the next level.

Last week I used Technics Tracks to download Mauro Picotto’s latest album, From Heart to Technoand took the PMX100 for a spin. To listen to the FLAC files on the system, I simply transferred them to a USB and let the audio system take over. I’ve never heard the dark and heavy cuts of techno sound so beautiful in my own home. The listening experience is greatly intensified and masterfully executed when you combine hi-res audio files with a killer system to deliver it on.

If you’re looking for the next best thing in home audio, I suggest you look no further – Technics Tracks + the Panasonic high resolution audio products will deliver more than you’ll bargain for.
