A new face on the techno scene, Toronto’s Noah Southard scored big after attending the 2016 Canadian DJ Show. The young talent’s unique sound piqued the interest of UNT Records label boss John Norman, and within a few months, an EP was made.
Released on the label last month, Southard’s Impluse EP consists of four tantalizing tracks including original and beatless versions of ‘Flush’ and title track, ‘Impulse.’ While both tracks carry the driving basslines we love so much, you can expect a deep, dubby, and almost eerie vibe that stretches across each 7-minute production. Unique from the busy and often noisy sounds of today’s techno, Southard’s EP is intelligently stripped back, with minimalist sounds that highlight the producer’s appreciation for the simplicity behind the art of music-making.
With UNT’s commitment to grow, develop, and nurture their artists’ talents, we’re looking forward to hearing what Noah Southard comes up with next.
